BLOMFIELD LOSES TO SAVOLDI DISQUALIFIED FOR EXTRA SLAM • Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 19. An entertaining professional wrestling match was witnessed to-night, when “ Jumping Joe ” Savoldi (America) defeated “ Lofty ” Blomfield (Auckland) by disqualification in the sixth round. Savoldi had previously gained a fall in the third round, which was opened with a willing exchange of forearm jolting. Some feeling then crept into the contest, and Savoldi rose limping and complained to the referee That he was not hurt, however, he quickly, demonstrated by felling the Aucklander three times in quick succession with dropkicks, and then pinning him for a fall. Blomfield returned to his corner after receiving attention. Following flying tackles in the sixth round, Blomfield picked up the American and slammed him. He repeated the oerformance and was awarded a fall for a body press. Blomfield appeared to be in doubt, however, and he again lifted the American and slammed him. The referee immediately intervened and awarded the match to Savoldi. GEORGE DEFEATS KRUSE (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct, 19. Ed. Don George beat Bob Kruse by two falls to one. The bout was remarkable for the entire absence of elbow jolts and “ rough-house ” tactics, being a fine display of orthodox, scientific grappling. George met stubborn opnosition from Kruse, who fought cleverly throughout and lost the deciding fall through an apparent misunderstanding.
