RAVAGED BY FIRE
AMERICAN TIMBER AREAS VICINITY OF SAN FRANCISCO SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 17. (Received Oct. 18, at 11 p.m.) A series of timber fires raged dangerously close to San Francisco escort areas, destroying thousands of acres, causing evacuation of Soulsbyville and Standard City, on the outskirts of Winona. Other outbreaks occurred in Toulumne, Bolinas. and the Sierra National Forest. Several persons are missing.
