AUSTRIAN JEW IN MANCHESTER

GIFTS TO EXCHEQUER

LONDON, Oct. 17. (Received Oct. 18, at 8 p.m.) An Austro-Jewish merchant living in Manchester, Mr Solomon Aschkenasy, publishes a long announcement in London newspapers declaring that he intends to allocate 5 per cent, of all the profits of his business from February 7, 1937, to the National Exchequer in order to help the defence of Britain. A further * 5 per cent will be allocated to charity. He says: “ I love this country, and will do anything in my power to help it.”
