CATHEDRAL CARNIVAL

SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED

The carnival conducted at His Majesty’s Theatre during the last 10 days for the purpose of raising funds for the liquidation of the debt on St. Joseph’s Cathedral was brought to a successful conclusion on Saturday evening. The entertainment provided in the theatre under the title of "Vienna Calls’’ was enthusiastically received by a large audience, while the many attractions of the bazaat and the amusement park occupied the attention of large numbers until a late hour. The main, attraction, however, was the announcement of the winning princess and shortly befor midnight a very large and enthusiastic crowd had gathered in front q£ the stage where the progressive totals were being pasted up. Princess Elizabeth (Miss N. M‘Cormack) was the winner, her total being £6Ol The other results were as follows: —Princess Marina (Miss J. dunes), £505; Princess Patricia (Miss B; Gallien), £400; Princess Margaret (’Mis'' M Bern’s) £ 234 The gross takings of the carnival, with a few returns still to come in, amounted to £2226, of which approximately £IOOO was taken on Saturday night.

The official coronation ceremony will take place in His Majesty’s Theatre on November 5
