AN UNKNOWN CITY

The unknown city of Yong Peng inhabited by 5000 Chinese, and situated in the midst of the Malayan jungle, was found by a British Government official while flying over the district. The official, who was employed in the Land Office of the native Malay State of Johore, said he saw a large settlement in the heart of the jungle, which he did not recognise. Next day he drove to it, and to his amazement discovered it was Yong Peng. The Government was unaware of the existence of the town, although it had been a thriving agricultural centre for nearly 10 years.
