IDEAL HOMES EXHIBITION

ATTRACTION AT LITTLEBOURNE HOUSE The home of the late Sir John' Roberts, which was presented to the city by the members of his family, will appear, at the opening function to-day, furnished as a model home. The larger rooms have all been redecorated. A few of the smaller ones are yet incomplete, but will be ready in a few days. The grounds are in perfect order, and the flowering shrub are now a blaze of glory. Every citizen should see this magnificent gift to the city under these ideal conditions, then they will realise what potential possibilities the gift affords. A picture of particular interest to Dunedin people will be on view at Littlebourne House'to-day. It is one in three panels containing views of the ship that brought Mr C; H. Kettle and his survey party to Dunedin, a very fine likeness of Mr Kettle, and the original home Of Mr and Mrs Kettle, the parents of Lady Roberts. The house was demolished to enable the present rich and commodious structure to be erected. Lovers of early Dunedin history will be interested in, the picture, which is owned by Miss Macassey. Another interesting relic to be on view is an album of views of Dunedin in the sixties, this book having , a photograph of the first Littlebourne House, which was located in Maclaggan street on the site now occupied by the Phoenix Company, Ltd., and which was the original I home of Mr C. H. Kettle, whence i later he removed to the present 1 Littlebourne site. i This afternoon the Boys’ Brigade is making its special effort to raise funds for its annual camp and battalion funds, and the grounds at! Littlebourne House will present a . bright and busy scene when a may- 1 pole dance and a gymnastic display will be given. The Boys’ Brigade (Old Boys) Band will be in attendance and there will be side-shows ; and games. The Mayoi will open the display immediately after the I Ideal Homes ceremony.
