IG, A remit to be forwarded to the Farmers’ Union Dominion Executive by the Southern Hawke’s Bay branch is to the effect that, owing to the difficulty of procuring labour for casual farm work the Minister of Public Works (Mr R. Semple) be asked to consider releasing men on public works if a farmer made an application to the officer in charge. Regarding the question whether a large portion of the Women’s Division fund was devoted to political party purposes, the chairman of the branch said that no funds, either of the Farmers’ Union or of the Women’s Division were devoted to such purposes
