MOTOR EXHIBITION

OPENED AT OLYMPIA NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENTS (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Oct. 15. (Received Oct. 16, at 5.5 p.m.) Closed cars predominate at Olympia, where the International Motor Exhibition was opened to-day, with exhibits of 30 British and 24 foreign manufactures. Cars are becoming larger, with a tendency towards increased power. Freak streamlining is not seen, but the bodywork in most cars is clean-lined, with receptacles for spare wheels and luggage lockers incorporated ii> the coachwork. Ventilation is better on nearly all models, and independent suspension wheels are becoming more common. Another noticeable improvement is car maintenance, which again is much simpler. Centralised chassis lubrication is a feature on many of this year’s cars, and built-in four-wheel jacking systems are now common.
