LABOUR DAY TRIAL The Labour Day reliability trial from Dunedin to Queenstown and back, conducted by the Automobile Association (Otago), and which is open only to members of the association, or of a club affiliated to the South Island (N.Z.) Motor Union will be commenced on October 24. The first competitor will be started from the club rooms at 1.30 p.m., the others following at intervals of one minute.

The Lindis Cup and a trophy will be awarded the winner in the motor car section, and the Tarras Cup and trophy will be the second award. There will also be a trophy for third. The motor cycle awards will include the Victory Cup and trophy for first, the Wanaka Cup and trophy for second, and a trophy for third. For each competitor completing the course within one hour of his or her correct time, a certificate of performance will be awarded. There will be several tests for each competitor, and a stop and restart test will be held on a hill. Several observed sections will be held in order to test the general driving ability of the competitors, and will cover starting car, stopping car, parking car, gear changing, and general handling of car. Official checks will be held at towns en route, and the speed allowed between Dunedin and the boundary will be 20 miles per hour. Between Dunedin and Clyde the speed will be 30 miles per hour, and from Clyde to Queenstown 25 miles per hour. Entry forms are obtainable from the secretary, Automobile Association (Otago).
