Wood, Lord Sempill'siMonospar plane arrived from Melbourne, having covered 2435 miles in 12 hours 55 minutes. Wood said he was confident that he could keep his promise to the crew that they would have lunch in London next Sunday. To do this Wood must fly more than 12,700 miles without relief at the controls and break the record of 5 days 15 hours from Darwin to London, heL". by Cathcart-Jones and Waller. MACHINE NOT REPORTED SYDNEY, Oct. 7. (Received Oct. 8; at 0.15 a.m.) A Darwin message states that it is feared that the Monospar plane piloted by Wood has been forced down in the Timor Sea, and the Government patrol boat Larrakia has been despatched to search. The machine took off from Darwin at 4.50 a.m. local time, and since has. not been reported. FOUR PEOPLE ON BOARD DARWIN, Oct. 7. (Received Oct. 8, at 1.30 a.m.) Wood" is accompanied by the designer of the plane, Mr F. F. Crocombe, the engineer, Mr L. Davies, and the radio operator, Mr C. P. Gilroy. The machine had a load of 11,3001 b, chiefly petrol and spare parts. Wood planned to reach Singapore, 2347 miles from Darwin, today. OVERDUE AT KOF.PANG SINGAPORE, Oct. 7. (Received Oct. 8, at 1.30 a.m.) The Monospar is five hours overdue at Koepang and was last seen 450 miles from Darwin. A NON-STOP FLIGHT NEW YORK TO STOCKHOLM NEW YORK, Oct. 7. (Received Oct. 7, at 10 p.m.) Kurt Bjorkvall, the Swedish aviator, hopped off on a non-stop flight to Stockholm in a Ballanca monoplane.
