ARTS BALL
The arts ball to be held to-night in the Town Hall is expected »to be an outstandingly spectacular event, with 1000 dancers in fancy dress on the floor. The Town Hall has been completely transformed, practically every part being covered with painted panels, friezes, cut-out figures, etc., and a large staff of electricians will be required to work the electrical effects, which will greatly increase the kaleidoscopic effect. Although dancing is the main object of the evening, the programme has been varied to include the presentation of two delightful ballets and the grand parade, at which the costumes will be judged. The order of events will be:—9 p.m., dancing; 9.45, tap dance by pupils of Miss Gwen Webster; 10.30, "The Four Aces' Miss Barbara Williams with ballet; 11, Grand Parade—judging of groups and costumes; 11.45, supper. Hot soup will be served at 2.30 a.m. An excellent orchestra will complete the evening's entertainment. Those desiring to watch can book their seats at the D.I.C.
