BALGLUTHA Plunket Society Benefit In the Britannia Theatre on Tuesday night a company from the Dunedin Little Theatre Society presented, under the auspices of the Balclutha Plunket Society, three playlets of outstanding merit—" The Wronged Husband," " Chinese White," and " The Actress " —supported by individual items of music, song and dance. The attendance was very fair and the audience very appreciative. Half the proceeds go to the funds of the local Plunket Society. Cricket Association The annual meeting of the South Otago Cricket Association was held on Tuesday night in the Borough Chambers, when there was a good attendance of delegates. Mr L. J. Edwards (president) being in the chair. The balance sheet showed a credit of £7 odd, or £2 better than the previous year. A deputation from the Lawrence Club asked for affiliation, and this was granted. Office-bearers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: President, Mr L. J. Edwards (Waiwera, re-elected); vice-presidents—Messrs D. M'Lelland (Owaka) and L. North (Kaitangata); secretary and treasurer, Mr J. L. Guest; auditor, Mr J. G. Walter; Grade Committee—Messrs W. Hampton, A. K. Baxter and W. Jolly; selectors—Messrs E. Olsen. W. Hampton and A. K. Baxter. Opening day was fixed for Saturday, October 17. It was stated that nine teams had entered for the competitions, which would be run in one grade for the first two rounds, and at the conclusion the leading five team: would complete for the Stewart Shield., while the other four teams would pla* off for the B Grade Championship The opinion was expressed that in thif way much more interest would bt created. The president and other: stated that everything pointed to a most successful season.
