CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS A FORTY-HOUR WEEK (Per United Press Association! WELLINGTON, Oct. 7. The Conciliation Council heard an industrial dispute in which the Wellington Tobacco and Related Trades Union of Workers were the applicants and W. D. and H. O. Wills (New Zealand), Ltd., tobacco manufacturers, of Petone. and the National Tobacco, Ltd., of Port Ahuriri, Napier, were the respondents. It was agreed that 40 hours shall consitule a week's work, and that there shall be no work on Saturdays; and that overtime be paid for at the rate of time and a-half for the first four hours and double time thereafter. The parties agreed that pay day be not later than Thursday of each week.
