POSITION OF MR HODGES INCIDENT NOW CLOSED (Peb United Press Association) PALMERSTON N., Oct. 6. A statement has been made by Cr W. B. Tennent that it is not his intention to proceed further with any of the contemplated proceedings which he announced at a recent meeting of the City Council he was issuing against Cr J. Hodgens, M.P., in consequence of a reference to Mr Tennent contained in a telegram which Mr Hodgens forwarded to the council three weeks ago. Mr Tennent to-day said that, though he considered the proper place for Mr Hodgens to make a withdrawal of the statement was the council table, he understood from people who attended the public meeting in the Opera House on September 19 that Mr Hodgens there made the necessary withdrawal. Mr Tennent now regarded the matter as closed. A
