HOSPITAL DIRECTOR
RESPONSIBLE FOR ADMINISTRATION AUCKLAND BOARD’S DECISION (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 29. The appointment of a director to have complete control of all the activities of the Auckland Hospital except medical and nursing at a salary of £ 1200 a year was decided upon by the Hospital Board at a special meeting to-day. The decision was made on the casting vote of the chairman (the Rev. W. C. Wood), who had suggested the appointment in view of the recommendations concerning the administration of the hospital contained in a special report by Mr G. Grey .Campbell, a public accountant, and discussed at a series of special meetings recently. The chairman, suggesting that a director should be appointed at a salary of £I2OO a year, rising to £ISOO at the rate of £IOO a year, and that the position should be advertised throughout New Zealand and the different States of Australia, quoted from Mr Campbell’s report statements that the organisation of the hospital had suffered from a lack of co-ordination in administration and that it was essential that the board should delegate its power and responsibility to a competent executive officer to carry ottt the policy of the board and be entirely responsible for the administration.
