SURGEON’S TRAGIC FATE
Dr Henry PhilbricK Nelson, of St. John’s Wood, London, who died from a septic infection contracted while operating at St, Bartholomew’s Hospital, left £3835. Probate has been granted to his widow, who remained beside him throughout his illness. Dr Nelson, who was 34, was one of the most brilliant lung surgeons, his operations having opened up a new field of surgery. In an effort to save his life his arm was amputated, but the infection gained rapidly.
