NATIVE FLORA

INTEREST IN PRESERVATION THE MINISTER GRATIFIED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. It is the opinion of the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr W. E. Parry) that a greater interest than formerly, is being taken by the people in the preservation of native trees and plants. “If the spirited action that citizens are taking to-day had been taken a few years back, one can imagine the picture we would now have presented along the highways, and in certain areas around the cities, but it is not the past we should worry about, but the future,” said Mr. Parry. The Minister quoted correspondence received by him relative to destruction and conservation, and said that it was gratifying to find parents instilling into the minds of children the need for protecting native plants and trees.
