THE WEATHER
The weather yesterday was cold and unsettled with a strong wind from the south-east and frequent rain showers. The sun shone intermittently but the temperature did not rise beyond 50 degrees. The barometer was rising sharply in the evening. REPORTS FROM THE NORTH (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, Sept. 28. A severe cyclonic storm was experienced early this morning. The wind, varying from east to south-west, blew with gale force during the early hours, accompanied by heavy rain. During the day a boisterous westerly wind was blowing and heavy rain squalls were experienced at frequent intervals. The barometer fell .60 inches between midday yesterday and 2 a.m. to-day, and afterwards it rose slightly and then fell again to 29.50 inches. WELLINGTON, Sept. 28. The weather was fine and sunny in the morning but the sky clouded over in the afternoon A cold southerly wind prevailed, which freshened considerably after midday. The minimum temperature last night was 43.1 degrees and the maximum to-day 54.8 degrees.
CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 28. The weather today was showery and boisterous at times with some hail. There was a light south-west breeze in the morning and a strong south-south-west wind in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 50.9 degrees. The barometer is rising and now registers 29.67 inches.
