BIBLICAL PROPHECY

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —It has been very interesting and educative indeed to read the various letters on Biblical prophecy by Messrs Steel, " Maran-atha, " Israel,'" etc., who all claim that the Bible contains infallible divine prophecy; that they themselves individually can truly interpret it; and yet are disputing among themselves as to who is right, each one saying the other is wrong! Who, then, is right? Or are they all wrong? They are confident that prophecy is being fulfilled, but when one states how, and in what manner, another says he is wrong! What can an impartial spectator think upon such disagreement among those claiming each to possess actually the true interpretation? Each to his own satisfaction proves the other wrong—from the same infallible divine guide; and so they all cancel each other out. I, for one, thank them all for showing how simple and reliable the source of their knowledge is.—l am, etc., August 18, Profanum Vulgus.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln reply to your correspondent' "Bradlaugh," permit me to say that a generation is about 30 or 40 years. The destruction of Jerusalem took place about 40 years after the statement quoted by him was made, "Till all these things be fulfilled." He does not mean to exclude the reference to the judgment, but to say that the destruction of Jerusalem would be such as to make appropriate the words of the prediction. Were there nothing beyond? Thus the words of Christ describing the destruction of Jerusalem had a fullness of significance thai would meet also the events of the judgment—l am etc., J. D. Brown. Mosgiel, August 18.

[The above letter has betn curtailed as it introduces a prophecy other than that quoted by " Bradlaugh." This correspondence is closed. —Ed. O.D.T.J
