TWO CRASHES IN ENGLAND
FLYING-OFFICER KILLED LONDON, August 11. (Received. August 12, at 11.30 p.m.) Two airmen had extraordinary escapes from crashes. In one case the wing of a monoplane piloted by Flying-officer Vere Harvey crumpled, causing the machine to crash in Wigtown Bay, a mile from the shore, and sink. Harvey smashed the cabin window and swam half a mile, after which he was assisted to the shore by a friend, Prince George Galitzine, who saw him crash from the beach. Harvey suffered cuts and bruises and a sprained ankle. In the other case Squadron-leader Bryan Reynolds jumped from a plane which crashed in a field at Hampshire. He escaped with abrasions and a shaking. A passenger, Flying-officer Henry Molyneux, did riot jump, and was killed.
