PACIFIC SHIPPING

UNFAIR COMPETITION COMMITTEE REPORT AWAITED LONDON, August 11. (Received August 12, at 8.30 p.m.) Shipping circles discount the reports of immediate developments in the Pacific shipping position. The P. and O. Company is naturally fully behind the efforts to expedite a solution of the problem, but emphasises that the matter is at a standstill pending the report of the Imperial Shipping Committee, which is not likely to be presented till after the holidays. The situation, as far as the British Government is concerned, is unchanged, and action will largely depend on what the committee reports.
