FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY St. Clair— Stableford Bogey Handicap. After a spell of bad wedther the sun came out last Saturday to enable local golf clubs to continue with club fixtures. OTAGO CUP The final of the Haggitt Cup competition produced golf .of a high standard. A. W. S. Ritchie is to be congratulated not only upon his success in the final, but upon the high standard of golf he has displayed throughout the competition and upon his fighting qualities. He has the temperament and practice whiqh will give him Ihe ability to become a low marker in another season or two. , „ . , A. M. Cameron, the other finalist, put up a good fight, but his young opponent was too good to be in receipt of eight strokes. The scoring in the Stableford Handicap, which was also played on Saturday, was up to a good standard in view of the conditions. B. M. Hay won by a margin of two strokes m the A Grade, his score being 30—5—.35. several players returned 33 points, and among them was J. A. Scouler. who scored 32 points off the stick. In the B Grade the scores were by no means so good, but they were at least consistent so far as the leaders were concerned, there being no less than five players heading the list with 29 points. ST. CLAIR CLUB The scores in the monthly medal competition at St. Clair were surprisingly good, and, despite the heavy going and a tricky wind, seven cards of under scratch were returned. <W. A. Mitson, in the. A Grade, played excellent golf to score a 76. His net score of 66 was easily the best returned Mitson was really unlucky not to have had a better card, as he dropped one or two strokes over the first few holes. This score should bring Mitson under the notice of the handicappers, and should certainly entitle him to a singlefigure handicap. W. D. M Kenzie wa. runner-up with 70. D. C. Bennie had the best gross score of the day. a tine •72 There was a tie in the B Grade between S. C. Crimp and H. J. Luff, each with net 68’s. W. Strong was third with 69.
