ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Football Association was held last night, the chairman (Mr M. K. Haig) being in the chair. CHATHAM CUP COMPETITION A letter was received from the New Zealand Council respecting the withdrawal of Mosgiel from the Chatham Cup competition and advising that the council had decided to let the fixtures stand as at first arranged. Mr J. Simpson remarked that the reply was unsatisfactory, the council having evaded the question as to whether it regarded Westland as part of the Canterbury district. This point was made.perfectly clear in the letter forwarded to the council, stated Mr Simpson, and it was decided to write a further letter to the council on the point raised. SOUTHLAND-OTAGO JUNIORS The selector (Mr J. Morwood) submitted the following players to represent the Otago juniors in a match for the Southland Junior Cup against Southland at Dunedin on August 22: Goal, R. Hughson (Port); full-backs, T. Ramsay (Tramways, captain), N. Bennie (Northern); halves —F. Taylor (Caversham), Jackson (Y.M.C.A.), T. Wilson (Tramways); forwards—N. Walmsley (Tramways), F. Keach (Tramways), R. M'Lean (Northern), H. Cullen (Northern), M'Skimming (Caversham); emergency, T. Bennet (Caversham). Mr Morwood was appointed manager, and the above players are requested to be in attendance at the Oval tomorrow (Wednesday) night, at 7.30, for training. On the day of the match it was decided to play the usual senior fixtures, the game to be played as a curtain-raiser at Logan Park. GENERAL It was resolved that the Third Grade (A and B sections) be closed after next Saturday's matches, which would complete the second round of the competition. Mr M. G. M'lnnes was appointed to select the Fourth Grade team to play the Southland boys' team on August 22. It was decided to write again to the Canterbury Association respecting Otago's F.A. trophy challenge, and to suggest the match being played on August 29 or early in September.
