Interior decoration needs clean walls. Distemper is cheaper than wallpaper, and the best makes are washable. In applying distemper, never work in one direction only; brush every way. Keep windows shut while working, or it \yill dry too quickly and leave hard edges. Holes and cracks must be filled up with plaster of paris before the colour is applied. Mix the plaster yjith milk, which makes it more plastic. Mixed with water, it hardens almost before you can use it.
