SOUTH ISLAND MEETING - INTERRUPTED BY SNOW (From Our Special Reporter.) MOSSBURN, June 18. The South Island Collie Hog Championship meeting, which is being held at Mossburn under the auspices of the local club, was continued to-day under adverse weather conditions. There wa K a fall of snow on the high country last night and a further fall occurred at mid-day to-day. This caused a postponement for about two hours, and lighter falls during the afternoon also interrupted the meeting, with the result that the Long Pull and Yard event, which was started yesterday, was not completed to-day, about 2] dogs still having to be worked. The snow had the effect of quietening the sheep, and some good trials have been seen.
A banquet was held last evening, and wa s largely attended, the president of the Mossburn Collie Club. Mr U. Rowe, occupying the chair. The toast of “The South Island Sheep Dog Association ” was proposed by Mr T. Reidy, and responded to by the president of the association, Mr H. E. Fincham. and that of “ The Mossburn Club” was proposed by Mr J. D. Connor, and responded to by Mr Rowe.
