THE DAVIS CUP LONDON, June 16. Tom Whittaker, trainer for the Arsenal Football Club, has accepted an invitation to traiq the British Davis Cup representatives. Allison' has dislocated his hip bone, and is unlikely to play at Wimbledon. His injury is similar to Austin’s, whoso hip bone was out of the socket. Austin has nearly recovered, and expects to play at Wimbledon.
The Davis Cup interzone final will be played on No. I court at Wimbledon on July 18, 20 and 21.
ENGLISH WOMEN’S TEAM
VISIT TO AUSTRALIA LONDON, June 16. The Lawn Tennis Association announces the acceptance of the Australian invitation to send an English womens’ team in the winter of 1937-38.
WIMBLEDON TOURNAMENT SEEDINGS ANNOUNCED LONDON, June 17. (Received June If?, at 0.40 a.m.) The seeded players at the Wimbledon tournament are as follows: Men’s Singles.—Perry, von Cramm, Quist, Allison, Budge, Crawford, Austin, Grant. Women’s Singles.—Miss Round, Miss Jacobs, Mrs Fabyan, Miss .Stammers, Mrs Sperling, Madame, Mathicu, Mile Jedrzrejowska, Milo Lizana. Men’s Doubles.—Crawford and Quist, Allison and Van Ryn. Budge and Mako, Hughes and Tuckey. The Women’s Doubles are headed by Misses Stammers and James, followed by Miss Jacobs and Mrs Fabyan. The Mixed Doubles are beaded by Perry and Miss Round, while Malfroy and Mrs Sperling are placed fourth.
In the first round Crawford meets Preun. Other first-round matches arc:— M'Grath v. Purcell, Quist v. Taylor, Sproule v. Ritchie, Malfroy v. Kukuljelic, Andrews v. Acschliman, and Stcdman v. Wilde.
