TRAMWAY FARES
TO THE EDITOB. Sib—l noticed a report in your paper a few days ago, that on August 1 we are to expect 6000 visitors. wth_ 100 pipers, from Southland' to view the Otago-South-land Rugby match at Carisbrook As one who travelled with the pipe bands by car to Carisbrook last year I wish to protest strongly against the outrageous charge of 0d simile fare to Carisbrook.* When the Railways Department runs excursions it cuts the fare in' half. Not bo the Tramways Department, which, not content with charging 100 per cent, extra to Carisbrook, via Glen road, charges visiting pipers 300 per cent, over the ordinary charge. We in Dunedin have a reputation of welcoming visitors in a warm manner; but if the tramways manager had been travelling on this tram to Carisbrook he would have heard some very plain speaking. In conclusion, I would like to have the assurance from the tramways manager that these 100 pipers will have to pay no more_ than the ordinary fare on August 1. Otherwise other arrangements will be made to take the bands to the ground.—l am, etc.. Disgusted. Macandrew Bay, June 15.
