TO-DAY’S FOOTBALL
RUGBY CHARITY SATURDAY. The match between Pirates and University A, to be played at Carisbrook this afternoon, is being looked forward to with a great deal of interest, and is expected to provide the best game of the season. Pirates have a good side, both ‘back and forward, and endeavour to play bright, open fotlmll, while Universityhave also a good side and the backs possess plenty of pace. The curtainraiser between the High School and Southern Third Grade teams should also provide a bright, open game, as both these teams have been playing good football in their previous engagements. At the Caledonian Ground Dunedin will meet Zingari-Richmond. The former have a good pack, with plenty of weight, and are rapidly improving. The Zingari are also a greatly improved side, and put up an excellent game against Southern last week. At Bishopscourt Kaikorai will meet ■Mhambra. These two old time rivals have had some stirring games in the oast. At the University Oval Southern will meet University B, and the former should he able to win comfortably. At Mosgiel Taieri will meet Union. The former have given rather disappointing displays in their last two games, but are capable of much better things and arc likely to spring a surprise on the best sides. Union are improving each week and with a better understanding amongst the backs will prove a tough proposition. The gate proceeds frojn to-day’s matches will be divided between the Dunedin Hospital, St. John Ambulance Association, Patients and Prisoners' Aid Society, and fund for disabled footballers. Therefore all privilege tickets will be cancelled for to-day. Official guides will be on sale ns usual. ASSOCIATION Only one match will be played at Logan Park this afternoon, the contesting teams being Northern and Maori Hill. Play will start at 3 p.m., and as these teams are fairly evenly matched, the play should be well-contested. At the Oval Roslyn-Wakari and High School Old Boys will meet for the first time this season, when fast play should bn seen from these young players. The out-of-town game, Mosgiel v. Technical, will be played at Mosgiel.
