EVENING SINGS

RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION . The first of the aeries of the Returned Soldiers' Association evening sings will be in aid of the Anzac Commemoration Stamp Fund, and will be held in the Town Hall on Tuesday. The sing will be in the nature of a twenty-first oirthday party, as it is 21 years since the “ Digger ” was christened. A large birthday cake has been made, and will be cut and distributed for sale during the interval. Community songs to the number of 30 will be sung, starting with the troops leaving New Zealand, on the boat, arriving in Egypt, at the Dardanelles, in England, France, and leaving England on the return to New Zealand. The guests of the evening will be Anzacs and returned soldiers, members of the New Zealand Air Force, New Zealand Naval Reserve, New Zealand Mounted Rifles, New Zealand Artillery, and Otago regiments. Dr Galway will play the grand organ, the Returned Soldiers’ Choir will give selections, and the Regimental Hand will be heard in lively numbers. The Trumpet and Bugle Band will play the "Last Post” and reveille, and a humorous interlude wil] be given by Mr Tano Fama. Mr Arthur Macdonald will be leader, and Mrs Macdonald and Mr William Le Gal will play the accompaniments to the singing.
