WHEN BAKING SODA HELPS

A pinch of baking soda added to the water in which pens are boiled will render them bigger and softer. Grass stains can be removed from white materials with baking soda. Rub firmly into the affected parts with a pad of soft cloth, then rinse well with tepid water to which a little borax has been added. To freshen stale bread, sprinkle with cold water to which a pinch of baking soda has been added. Add a pinch of baking soda when stewing fruit. This brings all the impurities to the top. A garge of baking soda and water is often very effective. Use a teaspoonful of the soda to each tumblerful of water, which should be tepid. A little baking soda dissolved in tepid water will often counteract acidity in the stomach.
