FEET AND CHARACTER

SHOE EXPERT'S OPINIONS M. Andre Perugia, Paris shoe designer, who numbers royalty among his clients, claims to be able to tell a woman's character by a glance at her feet. He recently disclosed . his " footrule of character" in an interview in Chicago. An envious, down-at-the-mouth woman generally has a bunion. A fearful, unsuccessful woman walks like Charlie Chaplin—toes turned out. A timid and self-conscious woman places her feet close together when seated. Many women who are pigeon-toed are dull, even stupid—but a successful woman walks with a firm, even tread, and carries herself with poise. The Empress of Japan, the ex-Queen of Siam, Marlene Dietrich, Lily Pons, and Marion Davies are among those for whom M. Perugia has designed shoes. He declares that he makes his shoes to fit both the foot and the character.
