METHODIST CHURCH
HARVEST FLOWER SHOW The North-East Valley Methodist Church held its third flower show on Tuesday last with very successful results. In spite of adverse weather conditions for flowers, the blooms in the flower section were equal in quality to any previous show, and competition in the decorative work was keen. Vegetables, baking, and sweets sections drew very good competition, and tlie new scholars’ section displayed some exceptionally talented work. The special show prize was won by Mrs R. Watts and the scholars’ cup by John Rennie. Section winners were: Flowers and decorative, Mrs it. Watts; vegetables and fruit, R. D. Pcrhan; baking, Mrs G. Denscin; sweets. Mrs W. Christie; scholars’ section, J. Rennie. 'Die following were the judges:—Section A. Mrs A. Sykes: section B, Mr E. Benfell; section C, Mr Purdies; section D, Mr Hayman; section E, Mr E. 11. Densera. The section for exhibition only was very interesting and successful. Exhibits included fancy work, knitting, crochet and raffia work, pictures, artwork, and handicrafts of wood. The work stall and supper was in charge of members of the Ladies’ Guild.
