SEQUAH
TO THE EDITOR SIR,—I have been interested in reading articles and letters with .regard to the so-called “ medicine man, Sequah, ami after closely studying them, it would appear there must have been two Sequahs. While I was resident in Edinburgh over 40 years ago, Sequah held a short season in the large Waverley Market in Princes street. He was then about 50 years of age. His principal act was the drawing of teeth. He was then dressed in Wild West cowboy garb, and stood in an open landau, and his patients passed one at a time up the one side and down the other. Sequah hxed an electric bulb on his forehead, and on the few occasions I was present, he ccrtainlj “extracted” hundreds of molars. the dental students got alarmed, and spread a report that a great many people had sustained damage to their jaws and gums. This caused Sequah to issue a challenge that "if a single case was proved to be so, he would hand over a sum of money In some charity,” but nothing came of it. Tl 7 London report with regard to age is certainly the more likely to tic ._l am, etc.. G. M. Weeks. TO THE EDITOR.
