SHOW VEGETABLES

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —Could you let me know if there is any standard by which vegetables are judged at a show. Last year the judge said that what was required was uniformity and general evenness and not necessarily size.. He also took points on a cauliflower which was burst. This year, bearing the judge’s remarks in mind, I put in vegetables even of fair size. When I asked this year’s judge how he awarded marks for potatoes he replied, By weight." The first prize cauliflower, also, was very large and burst, and his comment on this was that it was useable. Please let me know which judge to follow. —I am, etc., Interested.

Tahakopa, March 18. [Where judges differ, who shall decide? King Edward potatoes have a pinkish purple on the end and round the eyes. Ed.. O.D.T.]
