CHARITABLE AID
TO THE EDITOB. Sib,—The letter by "Anti-Bunkum” in your issue of March 17 still claims there "has been deception and misrepresentation, and expresses wonder whether I have done anything personally for the sufferers besides talking and publicly shedding tears. If “Anti-Bunkum” wishes to know, he can avail himself of the opportunity of perusing my correspondence. I think, unless he hag a very hard heart he will find some difficulty in keeping back his emotions. Only to-day this correspondence took some sad turns. Why do these people write me and come and see me. I have not at any time written or said that nobodv on the Hospital Board cared for the poor, etc., till I came on the scene. What I have said and written wag what one particular person said at a public meeting which I attended, and at a meeting on Monday night, when this person was one of the candidates nominated, in the final ballot he secured only five votes out of a total of twenty-three. That is a fact and not deception.—l am, etc., P. Neilson. March 18
