PENSION PROBLEMS
IMPERIAL EX-SERVICEMEN VISIT OF BRITISH OFFICIAL (Pee United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 17. After visiting Australia to deal with questions relating to Imperial soldiers' pensions, Mr F. N. Smith, 0.8. E., a senior officer of the British Ministry of Pensions, London, is at present in Wellington. His purpose is not to investigate individual cases, except those in which there are special difficulties and where the men concerned have used the facilities at their disposal in this country. He states that no changes in the pensions policy are contemplated by the British Ministry, but, nevertheless, he will be meeting representatives of accredited ex-service associations. He has already been in touch with the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association, and is to have discussions with that body. He expects to be in New Zealand five or six weeks, and will return to England via Canada.
During the war Mr Smith served with the Royal Air Force.
