A POETIC APPEAL

TAXPAYER’S REQUEST MET COMMISSIONER REPLIES IN RHYME MELBOURNE, March 14. (Received March 14, at 5.5 p.m.) Probably for the first time on record a commissioner of taxation has composed an official reply in rhyme to a taxpayer seeking time to pay. The taxpayer was poetic. He couched his application to the commissioner in moving rhythm with a pathetic jingle. The commissioner (Mr R. W. Chenoweth) adopted the same rhythm and Jingle for his reply, and gave the taxpaper time to pay.
