RACING TROPHY AS URN

A beautiful silver cup which he won in a famous horse race from Tientsin to Peking contains the ashes of Mr Charles Robert Morling, of Wood End, Leamington, Hampshire, who was recently cremated. It will bo kept at the Southampton Crematorium. A race in which Mr Morling won the cup was arranged by the military authorities of China in 1900, and was run over a course of 90 miles. Mr Morling’s time for tiio journey was 7 hours SO minutes. Although he finished second, he was awarded a cup similar to that given to the winner, because, through an error, he missed the course at one stage. Mr Morling was a well-known polo player and amateur jockey :n China. Going to China at the ago of 20, he was for 80 years a merchant in Tientsin. He died at the age of G2, after a long illness.
