BLESSED BY HEAD LAMA DARJEELING, March 5. The head Lama of the Ghoom Monastery has blessed the Everest expedi tion which starts to-day on a 300-mile march across Tibet to the base camp on the Rongbuk Glacier, which Mr Ruttledge hopes to reach on March 12. The attempt on the peak is being made between the monsoons—namely, some time after May 22, the only time it is believed success is possible.
