The Draughts Championship of New Zealand will be played at Dunedln at Easter. 2. Tho Congress opens at the Y.M.C.A., Moray place West (upstairs), at 9 a.m. on Good Friday. 3. His Worship the Mayor (the Rev. E. T. Cox) has klnflly consented to open the Congress. Possibly the Hon. F. Jones, Post-master-general, will also be present. 4. The tourhey will be on the all-round principle 5. A sealed handlpap tourney will be run simultaneously with the championship event. 6. The local committee has resolved to abide by the constitution and rules regarding the allocation of the prize-money. 7. That, means that 50 per cent, of the prize-money will be devoted to the championship prizes, of which there will be three, ahd 50 per cent, to the handicap prize*, of whioh there will be at least six. 8. Provincial championships will also be decided at the tourney, on the same principle as at Dannevirke last year. 0. That means that tho player from each province scoring the highest number of points (provided that he scores at least 50 per cent, of the possible) will be the champion of his province. 10. Each provincial champion will receive a handsome cup, suitably engraved. Hi The Tournament Committee consists of the Central Executive, with several prominent club players added thereto, and is a very energetic body, under the capable guidance of Mr P. C. Gray, president of the New Zealand Draughts Association. 12. A well-attended meeting of the committee was held on Saturday night, February 29, When arrangements for the tourney were further advanced. It Is expected that the prize lists will be on a liberal basis, and to ensure this end, Mr Gray appealed to all members to make a special effort during the last six weeks. HAVE YOU GAINED YOUR CROWN? Recently a member of the Dominion Championship Tourney Committee sent two half-crown art union books to his friend Stan, with the request that the ticket* be disposed of In aid of the tourney funds The sender of the tickets finished his letter with the remark, " Now, It IS your move. ' In a few days' time Stan returned the art union butts along with a postal note tor Its, and appropriately remarked, "I have moved and gained my first crown; please send two more books to enable me to win another one." Now, gentle reader, have you gained your " crown "? What the obliging Stan has done, you can do. Write to me now for two books. Each book contains 10 tickets at 3d each and a free one for the seller. The prize i* alluvial gold, value £5, and the lucky number will be drawn on March 28. Now, reader, make your move and help the game along.
