OBITUARY

MR FRANCIS H. RICHMOND (Pef: United Press Association) NELSON, March 5. The death is announced of Mr Francis Henry Richmond, who was a well-known resident of Nelson and Marlborough for many years. He was a son of Mr Andrew James Richmond and a grandson of Mayor Matthew Richmond, one of the earliest settlers. The Richmond family has been identified with the w&ll-knowi) Richmond Brook property in Marlborough for four generations. Mr Francis Richmond took a very active part in the work of the Nelson diocese and in all sporting matters. He won the senior athletic cup at Nelson College in 1876 and 1877—an achievement which was followed by his two sons, S. T. Richmond, in 1903, and the late Coleridge Richmond a few years later. Another son missed winning" the cup by half a mark. \
