Don /Miller)., ; ;'"„ , A review of the year ending February 29 was made, and it was considered that tins'of the association's best years was closing. In all departments there had been increased membership, and results ■were encouraging. One of the features of the year had "been the great success of the boys' camp at Whare. Flat. Through the help of Botary Club, Patriotic and Welfare .League, and gifts of provisions from many, firms it had been possible to take in a large number of boys free. Some of the improvements in physique reported upon by the boys wtirk director, Mr G. K. Pitkethley, were remarkable. Individual increases were:— Height—l,7-8 inches during four weeks and" If inches during two. weeks Weight—l4-Jlb during five weeks; during two weeks. . The average increase ' in-height was i inch, and in weight 41b. The moral and spiritual benefits derived from the morning devotions, daily thoughts, cabin vespers, Sunday services in the chapel, and confidences given while out on walks were such that they might never be truly gauged. A very definite spirit pervaded all the activities during the entire period, • and the wonderful friendship between boys and their leaders and the entire co-rperation of all, helped in no small measure towards the smooth running of the camp. The special services were held in memory of his Majesty King George V. On January 15 over 30 members of the Rotary Club visited the camp, and after being welcomed by the boys and shown over the camp, played in a cricket match. The majority stayed for tea, and their visit was greatly appreciated by-the boys. Toe H visited the camp and rendered a genuine service by running an evening concert. Many parents and friends also visited the camp on visitdays and were deeply appreciative of the.care taken in looking after their boys. Great activity was being shown in the boys' department, all the primary ami some secondary schools of Dunedin having been visited and boys in groups coming to the building. The physical director, Mr C. W. Postdate reoorted that the equipment was in-first'class order for the opening on March 1, and enrolments were rapidly comin-r in. A squad had performed at 2? Caledonian sports. The baths were bcin" used by greatly increasing numbers. The hostel was full. There were many students and apprentices from the country entering residence.
