BARTER AGREEMENT
GERMANY AND AUSTRALIA THE PROBABLE TERMS (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) BERLIN, February 25. (Received Feb. 26, at 11 p.m.) Following the rejection of private barter applications it is expected that a new agreement, which it is hoped will be negotiated when the Consul-general, Herr Asmis, returns to Sydney in March, will embrace, first, abolition of private barter business; secondly, the opening of new foreign special accounts; thirdly, a change in the method of premium payments. It will be made easier for German firms to import raw wool but accounts will be opened only if a promise is given that no premium will be paid to Australian purchasers of German goods, which previously ranged to 20 per cent.
