The attendance was good both the totalisator and the gate returns being up. The track was in good oi'dor and some fast galloping was witnessed. Johnny scored convincingly in the Gore High-weight Handicap, boing patiently handled all the way. G'oJdan Song went out fast arid opened up a big gup from Johnny and Latitude. . The last-named set out after the leade" uuwii the back and caught and passed him across tlie top, with Johnny handy. Once m the stright Johnny came on and heat Look Smart by a length and ,a-ha!f. Latitude was two lengths away and then Impala. On weighing in it was found that Johnny's trainer had omitted to put on a lead bag and the horse carried 101 b short weight. He was disqualified, and the race was awarded to Look Smart. Wild Career began smartly in the Longford Hack Handicap and before a furlong was covered he went to the front and stayed there. He was attended early by Ada and Wall Street. Then Paladino came on the scene. The order was the same to the straight, where Final Bell loomed up, but.could not go on with it, and Wild Career beat Wall Street by a length and a-half. Acla was a similar distance away, and then Ballad and Red Treasure. The winner showed great speed early and won easily. Wall Street carried his weight well, but Final Bell disappointed. Worthy Claire, Huia Chimes and. Sunny Drive were early prominent in the Electric Trot. Then Seaward de Oro joined in, and after a mile Guywin was handy. They had the race to themselves and provided a keen contest Worthy Claire beating Guywin by two lengths, with Seaward de Oro half a h.ngth away. Then came Huia Chimes and Creep, who is an early improver. Ouywrh. from the back, went a great race. Grand Meteor showed a (rood deal of speea once on the way. The favourite for the Racing Club Handicap,. M'Heath, won easily after being, handy throughout. Grand Finale, Great Shot and Honest Maid made play early from M'Heath. Daring Deed, who was slow away, got handy down the back and it was a cood race acros.l the top. Once in line M'Heath put in hw cloiin to run past the 'eadeiv: and win nicely by a-length' and a half from Honest Maid. Grand Finale was half a length away, and then, came Daring Deed and Great Shot. .Daring Deed was unlucky. Osculate went a poor race. i Moneyless followed up a good race at Winton by defeating the hot favourite Wyn in the Novice Handicap. The smartest away were Gambler's Luck, Stratosphere. Obligement, and Moneyless. They raced in this order till three furlongs, where Wyn drew clear of the bunch running to the straight. Moneyless was prominent and he held on to beat Wyn by nearly two lengths. Gambler's Luck was a length awav and then Obligement. Wyn was very unlucky. A snap start in the Croydon Handicap saw Song Boy and Silk Paper get al) the best of it and get a break of four lengths on Beam in about half a furlong. They faced in this order till two furlongs and a-half from home, where Beam got handy. A hard finish saw Song Boy hang on long enough to beat Silk Paper by half a length. Beam was a length away and then Penelope. Had it not been for his early advantage Sonp Boy would have been beaten. Beam was very unlucky, while Penelope and Hula Belle had no chance from the word go.

Blue Spark was splendidly handled to win the Progressive Trot in a very fastrun race. Silver Guy began best from Guywin, Blue Spark, and Erin's Star. Stirling Lady made a smart getaway to bp fourth at the stands. All down the back the order was unchanged, but Silver Guy was beaten three furlongs from home. Here Guywin went on to be almost immediately joined by Stirling Lady. They were fighting it out a furlong from home when Blue Spark came with a great run on the outer and went on to win by a length from Stirling Lady, who was threequarters of a length in front of Guywin. ' Then came Silver Guy. Stirling Lady showed great speed and Tritoma should do better to-morrow.

Ocean Singer atoned for his recent bad luck when Tie won the Summer Hack Handicap convincingly. Dazzling Eyes was first to break the line from Ocean Singer. Bay B : ddy, and Island Linnet. The order was the same right to the straight, where these four bunched. Ocean Singer drew out at the distance and was not doing his best to beat Island Linnet by a length and a-half. Dazzling Eyes was threequarters of a length away and then Bay Biddy.
