FAT SHEEP There was an entry of 1632 fat sheep, comprising principally ewes, with a scarcity of heavy wethers. Several consignments of outstanding ewes were penned, but the bulk comprised medium quality sorts. Vendors in the earlier part of the sale were the most favourably placed, all heavy sheep at this stage showing an appreciation of Is per head. These values did not continue, and from the middle of the market there was a pronounced drop, for the final races heavy ewes declining 3s to 4s, with odd passings • even at the reduced rates. Wethers, on account of insufficient supply, sold at fairly even rates throughout. Exporters operated at the increased schedule for all suitable freezing ewes.
