The following officials were appointed for the fixture:—Messrs T. O'Shea (starter), W. G. Glengarry (umpire), T. Wright, T. F. Mackie, W. L. Hooper, W. B. Robinson, and J. F. M'Grath (judges); W. J. Wilson (New Zealand Rowing Association representative) ; T. Wheelwright, H. E. Lyon, and J. Dalton (shore stewards at Otago Club’s boathouse), A. Watson (North End Club’s boathouse); D. Young (results steward). It was decided that the result of each race be shown by coloured flags hoisted at the end of the Birch street wharf and also announced by megaphone. It was reported that in addition to crews from all the local clubs, oarsmen from Awarua and Oamaru would compete.
