MR A. J. ENTRICAN (Per United Press Association). AUCKLAND, February 19. , The death is announced of Mr Andrew Jack Entrican, aged 76 years, head of the firm of Messrs Entrican, Sims and Co., Ltd. lln his record of public service Mr Entrican had the distinction of being for. 21 years Deputy Mayor of
Auckland. He was also for many years the “ father ” of the City Council. He was one of the well-known figures in commercial and local body circles in Auckland, and his association with the progress of the city extended over a long period.
MRS A. C. WIGLEY (Per United Press Association) TIMARU, February 19. The death occurred to-day of Mrs Annie Caroline Wigley, widow of Mr T. H. Wigley, who was a member of the Legislative Council for more than 20 years, in her eighty-fifth year. Born in England, Mrs Wigley was a daughter of Mr J. R. Lysaght, and came to Hawera with her parents in 1873. She married Mr Wigley in 1879.- They came to the Opuha Estate, Eaincliff, South Canterbury, and after the death of her husband Mrs Wigley continued to manage the estate till 1908, when she removed to Timaru, where she remained till the time of her death. Mrs Wigley is survived by two sons—Messrs R. L. Wigley (Timaru) and H. T. Wigley (Omarama), and a' daughter, Mrs Otway (Wellington), MR G. R. FREEMAN Mr George Rhodes Freeman, who died in a private hospital yesterday at the age of 60 years, was born in Dunedin and joined the jobbing department of the Otago Daily Times in 1902. In 1921 he took over the duties of printer of the Otago Witness, and when publication of that journal ceased he continued in charge of the linotype department. Mr Freeman, who was an employee of the company for 34 years, took a keen interest in the Otago Daily Times Mutual Provident Society, of which ho was president at one time and vicepresident when he died. In his younger days Mr Freeman was an enthusiastic yachtsman, while ho was also interested in brass bands, and was of latter years an active member of the Caversham Bowling Club. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Caversham.
