SWING FROM LABOUR
WESTERN AUSTRALIAN ELECTIONS POLLING DETAILS MEAGRE PERTH, February 16. (Received Feb. 16, at 9 p.m.) Details of the State elections in Western Australia on Saturday, although meagre, indicate a distinct swing against the Collier Labour Government, which, however, will probably be returned. The state of the parties prior to the poll was: Labour 30, Country Party 11, Nationalist 8, Independent Country Party I. Three Ministers —the Premier (Mr Philip Collier), the Minister of Mines (Mr S. W. Munsie), and the Minister of Lands (Mr M. F. Troy)—were unopposed. The Minister of Industry (Mr J. J. Kenneally), however, is in danger of defeat. The candidates contesting the elections numbered 104. Labour claimed the credit for the business recovery, while the Nationalists belaboured the Government for compelling every sustenance worker to buy a union ticket.
