GILLESPIE’S BEACH RETURN The secretary of Gillespie’s Beach Gold Dredging Company, Ltd. (Mr F. R. Thompson) advises that the wash-up for the week ended on Friday last was 40oz 3dwt for 129 hours’ dredging. WORKSOP EXTENDED RETURN The official return of the Worksop Extended Gold Dredging Company, Ltd., for ’the week ended February 13 was 290 z for 108 hours’ dredging. The Board of Trade returns for January show that the imports amounted to £70,023,006, the exports to £34,459,000, and the re-exports to £4,320,000. The principal increases compared with January last year were: —Imports—Grain and flour £835,000, dairy produce £561,000, other food £1,135,000, wool (raw and waste) £668,000. SOUTHLAND STOCK REPORT (Special to Daily Times) INVERCARGILL, February 15. The stock market continues active in all sections and most classes remain firm at recent quotations. Fat cattle are coming to hand in fairly large numbers and values for good quality animals remain fairly firm. Fat sheep are offering freely and values are slightly easier than recorded in our last report. The store sheep market is now fairly active and larger yardings are reported from all centres, breeding ewes remain firm, but store lambs have eased a little. A considerable amount of money passed into circulation as a result of a satisfactory wool sale at Invercargill on January 31. This represents an increase of over 50 per cent, on the money distributed after the first sale on February 1 of last year.
