BALCLUTHA Cricket South Otago 1214) drew with Otago Colts (eight wickets for 130) at Kaitangata on Saturday. Batting for South Otago Harper topped the score with an attractive 81. Other batsmen scoring well were Hampton (40), A. Baxter (27), Giver (21), Garvin (16), Williams and Baxter were the outstanding batsmen for Otago. On the Balclutha. Ground, Balclutha B 124 (Hill 28, Clent 28, Henderson 22, Prengley 15) defeated Kaitangata B 82 (Hale 23, Good 17, Blackburn 10). Bowling for Balclutha Duncan took three for 12, Hill three for 19, Frengley three for 30, Moffat one for 8. South Otago High School defeated Waiwera on the School Ground. Rise In Bread Prices Balclutha bakers have decided to increase the price of the 41b loaf by a penny, making the cash-over-the-counter price lid as from Monday. LAWRENCE Tuapeka Hospital Committee The monthly meeting of the Tuapeka Hospital Committee was held in the County Office on Friday last when there were present Messrs J. Bennets (in the chair), W. Cameron, D. M'Lennan, R. C. Hall, and Mrs R. C. Moore. The secretary of the Otago Hospital Board advised that the members of the board proposed to visit Tuapeka Hospital on Saturday. The secretary of the Otago Hospital Board advised that the South Otago Board had paid the sum of £5 Bs, amount due by Clutha County patients in the Tuapeka Hospital. The Otago Hospital Board requested information in regard to the outstanding accounts for maintenance in the Tuapeka Hospital. The board was recommended to write one account off and to hold over others for three and six months. Borough Rates The town clerk and treasurer of the borough reports that the total rates recoverable by the Borough Council is £966 17s 6d and by Saturday—the last day for payment—the sum of £869 14s 8d had been paid for the year 1935-36. For 1934-35 £996 18s, 7d was the total rates levied and on the last day for payment without the penalty the sum of £B7B 4s 6d had been collected. The payments this year have been more satisfactory. Oddfellowship The executive of the Otago District M.U.1.0.0.F., started its official visit in the southern area on Friday, when it paid a visit to the Tuapeka Pioneer Lodge, Prov. G.M. J. D. Cameron, Deputy Prov. G.M. E. J. W. Hay, Acting Correspondence Secretary Bro. A. Sligo, and Prov. Treasurer W. J. Johnston, and PJP.6.M. A. Hart were the officers present. N.G. Bro. J. Fleming extended a welcome to the district officers, and Bro. J. D. Sinclair, of Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, After the general business, toasts were responded to by the and a musical programme was presented. The visiting officers gave addresses on the work of the Order and the important part played by country lodges in the success of Oddfellowship. Notification wag given that the new ritual as sanctioned by the London A.M.C. of 1934 would soon be in the hands of the lodges. Acting Prov. Corresponding Secretary A. Sligo gave an address on the work of the conference and his trip to the different lodges in the Old Country. The address was interesting and educative.
